AlpinE is taking shape as a workstation we actually use. With the desktop, wallpaper and theme direction established, E-Jamz brings that same visual language to music playback.

The AlpinE’ifyd walkthrough starts with Imitated Intelligence, FHS and the unpaved road of custom Linux layouts, then moves into the Enlightenment desktop. The public source is now at AlpinEifyd, alongside the AUZiX / AlpinE release pages.

A small stereo rack on the desktop

E-Jamz takes inspiration from the compact player and rack logic of XMMS and Winamp. Transport, playlist and ten-band equalizer controls stay close together. The playlist and EQ can be toggled, and settings slide out beside the player. Blue Steel, Midnight and Amber Steel give the first release three visual choices, with a dot-style LCD display font.

GStreamer handles normal playback, with FFmpeg/OpenMPT support for the tracker formats that needed a different decoding route. The release has retained playback checks for MP3, MOD, S3M, XM and MED. Its playlist supports file and folder imports, drag-and-drop, search and artist/album filtering, and saving filtered selections as playlists. EQ presets and bypass make the sound rack useful without requiring a complicated settings dashboard.

This is a working beta. Channels and broader service integration are future work, and the DJ-style possibilities are a direction to explore rather than a finished feature claim.

Original BlackKnight wallpapers

BlackKnight E Theme collects the visual work and theme tools. The native wallpaper package contains the original Storm and Still backgrounds. Install it, then choose a wallpaper in Enlightenment’s background settings; package installation does not replace an existing user’s desktop selection.

The full Sci-Fi donor-derived desktop theme binary remains outside this public package until its upstream terms and required notices are verified. The wallpapers are independent original assets.

Native packages and sources

On AlpinE 3.24 x86_64 with its existing signed repository configured, add the companion feed’s public key and repository, then install the packages:

wget -O /tmp/builder-6acd560b.rsa.pub https://auzix.auzietek.com/alpine/repo/apps/v3.24/builder-6acd560b.rsa.pub
printf '%s\n' 'f308145bc1a64270e85f58d8af810015a5e2605a5bba1ddbeb2f86da65a42bd4 /tmp/builder-6acd560b.rsa.pub' | sha256sum -c -
sudo install -m 0644 /tmp/builder-6acd560b.rsa.pub /etc/apk/keys/builder-6acd560b.rsa.pub
grep -qxF 'https://auzix.auzietek.com/alpine/repo/apps/v3.24' /etc/apk/repositories || printf '%s\n' 'https://auzix.auzietek.com/alpine/repo/apps/v3.24' | sudo tee -a /etc/apk/repositories
sudo apk update
sudo apk add ejamz blackknight-wallpapers

See the package instructions and verification notes.

The application and wallpaper packages use native Alpine APK transactions. The package build, signature checks and clean-root installation are separate from the earlier interactive playback and visual acceptance. Packaging does not claim a new boot image or physical-hardware installation test.

Original software is GPLv3, original project artwork is CC BY-SA 4.0, and the Doto font retains its SIL Open Font License. Source, notices and corresponding release downloads are available in the project repositories:

The point of this pass is a useful desktop with its own character: native E controls, understandable packaging, and room to develop the music player without turning everyday playback into a heavy dashboard.
